Suresh Raina
Suresh Kumar Raina is an Indian international cricketer. He is a left-handed middle-order batsman and an occasional off-spin bowler. He is regarded as one of the best fielders in world cricket. He made his one-day international (ODI) debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19 years and scored a century on his test debut.
He plays for Uttar Pradesh in all forms of domestic cricket. He was the captain of the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and is the vice-captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Suresh has also captained the Indian cricket team and is the second-youngest player ever to captain India. On 15 August 2020, Suresh announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket.
In addition, he was part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 World Cup, and is the first of three Indian batsmen to ever score a century in all three formats of international cricket.
On the 10-year anniversary of IPL, Suresh was named in the all-time Cricinfo IPL XI as well. The Uttar Pradesh batsman also became the first batsman to score 5000 runs in the IPL on 23 March 2019 in the first match of the 12th edition of the tournament against RCB. Moreover, he holds the record for scoring the highest number of half-centuries in Champions League T20 history.
Suresh married Priyanka on 3 April 2015. They have a daughter, Gracia, and a son, Rio. Suresh and his wife founded the Gracia Raina Foundation to support his belief in giving back to society. He personally believes that with this initiative, it will be possible to shed light on poverty and help women and children in need across the country.
